I am halfway done with my product. I have spent 12 hours so far with my mentor, and the product is coming along well.
I have already designed a treatment plan for the CVA patient. The treatment plan consists of several appointments that are designed to help the patient with balance and coordination, walking, and gaining back motor control they have lost due to the stroke. So far, my mentor and I have seen the patient four times, with one appointment being the evaluation. The evaluation consists of asking the patient to do various things, such as lifting an arm on the affected side or getting up out of a prone position.
I have had three appointments with the patient, and I am learning a lot from my mentor. I am learning what takes place during an evaluation, and how to carry out a treatment plan. I am also learning several exercises that help with balance, walking, motor control, and relearning how to do everyday things, such as tying shoes or washing dishes.
Aside from schedule conflicts, the product portion of the project had gone really well.
